LSD seized for the first time in Bangladesh: DB

Detectives claimed to have seized Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) for the first time in the country during a raid in Dhaka on Wednesday.

A team of detectives made the seizure while investigating the death of Dhaka University student Hafizur Rahman, whose body was recovered days after he went missing, detectives said.

The DB team also arrested three persons for selling the drug, said AKM Hafiz Akhter, additional commissioner (detectives) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

They are Sadman Sakib alias Rupol, 25, Ahsab Wadud alias Turja, 22, and Adib Ashraf, 23.

The officials recovered 200 pieces of LSD blotter paper from their possession, Hafiz Akhtar said at a press briefing today at DMP media centre.

During primary interrogation, Rupol told detectives that he bought each of the blot at Tk 800-1,000 from the Netherlands and brought those in the country through parcel service, Hafiz said.

Rupol along with two others used to sell per blot at Tk 3,000-5,000 through his Facebook page "Apnar Abba", the DB official said.

It is an expensive drug and students of different universities and colleges are the main targets of the drug traders, he added.
