3 killed in separate road crashes in city
Three people, including a childa and a woman, were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in capital’s Hanif flyover, Khilkhet and Kamrangirchar on Thursday morning.
Tipu Sultan Rony, 22, a 2nd year student of Sociology Department at Dhaka College, was killed and two others injured in a motorcycle accident on Hanif flyover.
The injured are identified as Shahin, 22 and Naieem, 21.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, also in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the the body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy and the injured are being treated the same hospital.
In Khilkhet, Sharifa Begum, 32, a cleaner of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), hailing from Alipur village in Purbadhal upazila of Netrokona, was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.
Shamsul Haque Sarkar, sub-inspector of Khilkhet police station, said the unidentified vehicle hit the victim while Sharifa was cleaning the road at 5:30am, leaving her dead on the spot.
The SI said that the body was sent to DMCH morgue.
Beside in Kamrangirchar, Rahim Mia, 10, a student of class one, was killed in a road accident near Khalpar Kabutorhat.
Mohammad Yusuf, sub-inspector of Kamrangirchar Naval Police Outpost, said a microbus hit the child on the road in front of Khalpar Kabutarhat at 7:45am.
Later, the microbus driver took the minor to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition where duty doctor declared him dead.
Inspector Bachchu Mia said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The driver Babul was taken to police custody, he said.
