UHH`s day-long free medical camp on occasion of Independence Day

Universal Help Hub (UHH), a voluntary organization, is working towards the goal of building a healthy nation and a healthy country.

On the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence, UHH organized a day-long free medical camp on Friday, March 26 of 2021 at Charmutukpur village in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district as part of the 'Healthy Nation Campaign'. During the day, 5 doctors and 10 volunteers provided free prescriptions to about 283 patients in the camp and distributed necessary medicines among all the patients.

It was the UHH's tenth free medical camp. Through the previous 9 free medical camps, the organization has provided free prescriptions and necessary medicines to about 8,112 marginalized and disadvantaged patients.

“The village where we provided free medical care is a char on the banks of the river Teesta,” said Farha bint Haider Payel. The main source of livelihood of the people of this village is tobacco cultivation.

Most of the people in the village are suffering from various diseases due to tobacco cultivation and excessive consumption of tobacco. But due to the poor condition of the transport system and poverty, they are not able to come to the city to receive medical services.

As a result, day after day they are carrying various diseases in their body. We have tried our best to provide medical services to these disadvantaged and marginalized people in this camp. Dr Rahmatullah, one of the service provider of this camp, thanked the organization for the initiative.

“According to the World Health Organization, many of Bangladesh's marginalized people are deprived of first aid," he said. Such a continuous initiative of UHH for marginalized and disadvantaged people is really commendable. He also asked various organizations like UHH to come forward in such work.

Mohammad Saifullah, finance secretary of the organization, said, "Healthy people are needed to build a healthy, prosperous and developed country." UHH works towards that goal. Md. Mujahidul Islam, president of the organization, said the services we provided were inadequate compared to the needs of a large population.

He urged the government to pay more attention for health sector specially in providing proper medical services to these marginalized people.
