2 minors among 5 killed in Sylhet road crash
Five people, including two children, were killed as a truck hit a CNG-run autorickshaw on Sylhet-Tamabil highway Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Sadia Begum, 35, her four-month old baby Sahadat Hossan, daughter Sabia Begum, 7, her sister-in-law Habibunnesa, 33 from Jaintiapur`s Rupcheng village; and the autorickshaw driver Hossain Ahmed, 35, of the upazila`s Pakhibil village.
The accident happened at the highway`s Ferighat area under Jaintiapur upazila in Sylhet at around 6:40am, said Dastagir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur Police Station.
In the accident, four of a family -- two women and two children -- and the auto-rickshaw driver died on spot, the OC said, adding that the bodies were being recovered.
Deceased Sadia`s brother-in-law Md Jakaria (50) and his wife Hasina Begum (40) are also critically injured and we`re sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
