22 maund of jatka seized in Patuakhali

A mobile court in Patuakhali seized 22 maund of jatka (young hilsa) along with a truck from Sheikh Kamal Bridge Toll plaza on Patuakhali-Kuakata highway on Sunday.

Later, a mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jagat Bandhu Mandal, also the executive magistrate of the upazila, fined five traders, including the driver of the truck, Tk 50,000, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohipur Police Station.

Later, the fish was distributed among orphans of different madrasas.

On information, the local administration along with police conducted a drive there and seized the fish around 11:00am.

The drives against jatka catching will continue, he added.
