8 killed in Faridpur road crashes
At least eight people were killed and 10 others injured in two separate road accidents on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faridpur on Sunday.
A microbus collided head-on with a truck in Majkandi area under Madhukhali upazila around 7:30am, leaving two people--including a woman--dead on the spot, said Kowsar Hossain, a sub-inspector of Karimpur Highway Police Station.
Twelve injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where four others were declared dead, the police official said.
Identities of the victims– all passengers of the microbus – could not be known immediately.
In another incident, two youths were killed in a collision between a microbus and a motorcycle at Atadi in Bhanga upazila around 2:30am.
The deceased were identified as Shakil Khan (21) and Rani Fakir (22) of Hogladangi Sadardi area under Bhanga upazila.
Quoting locals, Officer in-charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station Omar Faruq confirmed that two motorcyclists died in the road accident.
On information, police recovered the bodies and also seized the microbus.
