A Bangladeshi youth named Shahjalal has died in a Malaysian prison. However, Bangladesh High Commission could not bring the body to the country as his relatives could not be found.

A Bangladeshi youth named Shahjalal has died in a Malaysian prison. However, Bangladesh High Commission could not bring the body to the country as his relatives could not be found.

According to the address of the application form of the Malaysian travel permit, Shahjalal, son of Fatik and Jahanara Begum of Babul Khali village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira died in Malaysia jail, said Mirza Salahuddin, ASP Sadar (Circle) of Satkhira.

The Bangladesh High Commission confirmed the death in Malaysia. Later, Sadar Circle tried to reach the news of Shahjalal’s death to his relatives but failed. Despite many attempts, the police could not find any place named Babul Khali at Satkhira Sadar. Even Shahjalal’s name was not found.

Besides, his parents were not found at Satkhira Sadar as per the address was given by him. Bangladesh High Commission sources said that it would not be possible to bring his body from Malaysia to Bangladesh if they could not find the relatives of Shahjalal.
