The students of Dhaka University (DU) have locked the main gates for the second day demanding an end to the university’s affiliation with seven colleges.

It was seen that the main gate of university’s Registrar Building, Faculty of Fine Art, Faculty of Business, Institute of Education and Research, Mukarram Hussain Khundkar Biggyan Bhaban, Curzon Hall and the Faculty of Social Sciences were locked since Monday morning.

Meanwhile, classes-exams are closed as the main gates are locked. Also, the university officials and staff are not able to enter.

“I am waiting outside the gate from 9:00 am,” said an employee of the university’s Registrar Building, reluctant to disclose the name, adding, “As the gate is locked, I can’t go in.”

The movement will continue until their demands are met, said the protesting students.

Earlier on Sunday, students of the university protested by boycotting the classes-examinations and locking the main gate of the university. Two days ago, the students protested by blocking the  Shahbagh intersection.

Notably, the seven colleges affiliated to DU -Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls’ College, Government Bangla College, and Government Titumir College.
