The students of Dhaka University have blocked the capital's Shahbag intersection again on Thursday demanding the authorities reverse the decision of affiliating seven colleges with the institution.

Some 500 students brought out a procession around 12:00 noon and staged demonstrations at the Shahbagh intersection to press home their four-point demand.

Vehicular movement on the adjacent streets remained halted since filing the report, causing sufferings to the commuters.

Commuters in Dhaka, along with patients and their relatives heading to BSMMU, BIRDEM and DMCH, suffered as the demonstration disrupted traffic since morning.

The students’ four-point demand include cancellation of affiliation of seven colleges, publishing results within two months, digitalising all administrative activities and controlling mass transport movement inside the campus.

On Tuesday, students of the seven colleges barricaded the Nilkhet intersection to press home their four-point demand, including promotion of students who failed their honours first-year final exams.

On February 17, 2017, the government-affiliated Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College with Dhaka University.
