One killed as wall collapses after blast in city

A man was killed and three others were injured as a portion of a wall collapsed on them following an explosion in a building at Kadamtoli of Shanir Akhra at Shanir Akhra on Monday morning.

A man was killed and three others were injured as a portion of a wall collapsed on them following an explosion in a building at Kadamtoli of Shanir Akhra at Shanir Akhra on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Farid Ahmed, 55, son of late A Jalil of Fulgazi in Feni while the injured were Kamal, 45, Saidul, 30 and Jakir, 35, said Inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police outpost.

The reason behind the explosion which occurred around 9:00 am could not ascertain yet.

The injured were rushed to the DMCH, the police official said.

Officials at Fire Service and Civil Defence said they are still not sure what caused the explosion but suspect that it could be either a gas cylinder blast or an explosion caused by gas line leak.
