Awami League Presidium member and 14-party spokesperson Mohammed Nasim on Wednesday demanded awarding punishment to rapists and repressors of women by forming a special tribunal.
“The number of women repression and rape has been increased alarmingly. So, I request the law minister to punish the rapists and oppressors through forming a special tribunal,” he said.
The AL leader was speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organized the discussion, marking the home coming day of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Nasim said, “I will tell the law enforcement agencies that the rapists are criminals. Please, take necessary steps to ensure exemplary punishment to them.”
With Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote President Sarah Begum Kabari in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by AL Advisory Council Member Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam and central executive committee member Advocate Qamrul Islam.
