With an aim to explore present scenario of illicit arms and drugs trade at the Bangladesh Border and to elucidate short, medium and long term strategy, researchers of Dr Wazed Research and Training Institute (DWRTI) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) presented a research findings on ‘Factors Contributing Terrorism: Arms and Drugs Meet on Border’ funded by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at its Headquarters, Uttara on Monday.
Additional DIG and Director of Research and Development (R&D) Rofiqul Islam Ghani welcomed the research team, said a press release.
During this time BRUR Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Major Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BNCCO introduced Research team with RAB officials.
Assistant Professor of Sociology Department, BRUR Dr Sohela Mustari present the research paper on behalf of the team where Dr Saber Ahmed Chowdhury, Board of governors, DWRTI of BRUR and Taha Hossain, Research Fellow, Institute for policy research and advocacy were helped to develop her information.
Benazir Ahmed, BPM (BAR), Additional Inspector General, Bangladesh Police, Director General, RAB Forces appraised the research findings and said, They worked hard.
“It will be continued. If you see anything wrong in this country in terms of threatening to country, just inform and engage RAB. We will reach anywhere in the country with in the short time,” he said.
Among others Md. Kaiyumuzzaman Khan, BPM, PPM, Additional Deputy Inspector General, Bangladesh Police and Commanding Officer, RAB – 10, Russel Ahmed Kabir, BPM, (L), BN Commander, Ex additional IG of Bangladesh Police and Ex Rector of Bangladesh Police Staff College Md Nazmul Haque, ppm, Additional SP of RAB Khandakar Md Shafiqul Alam, Lecturer Md Shamim Hossain and Sarwar Ahmad were present in the presentation ceremony.
