The health condition of senior journalist Mahfuz Ullah improved slightly on Wednesday.

‘His overall health condition has improved slightly Wednesday,’ his daughter Nusrat Homaira, who was accompanying the journalist at a Bangkok hospital, told at about 9:00 pm.

Mahfuz Ullah, 69, who has been suffering from complications in heart, kidney, and lung, is now undergoing treatment at the Bumrungrad International Hospital.

Nusrat said Mahfuz’s lung was functioning better on Wednesday while his heart was stable as well.

Limited medication is going on, she said.

Earlier on Sunday, all medication to Mahfuz was suspended as his condition deteriorated.

The journalist was earlier admitted to the Square Hospital in Dhaka with chest pain on April 2.

He was flown to Thailand on April 10 for better treatment.

Former president of Bangladesh Student Union Mafuz Ullah, also a writer and columnist, has been well-known for his critical views in TV talk-shows.

He recently authored books on the Bangladesh Nationalist Party founder Ziaur Rahman and its incumbent chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Before he was hospitalized he was working on a book about MAG Osmani, commander-in-chief of the Bangladesh Forces during the country’s War of Independence.
