BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday claimed that there is no rule of law in the country because of the “absence of accountability”.

“People’s lives hold no value in this country. You can see a spree of murder, rape and arson, yet there is no justice or accountability,” he said.

The BNP leader came up with the observation while talking to reporters after offering ziarat at the grave of a slain BNP leader, Mahbub Alam Shahin, in Bogura.

Fakhrul expressed deep shock over the death of Shahin and condemned the incident, our Bogura correspondent reports.

Besides, party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi asked the government to stop ‘minus one’ formula with their chairperson Khaleda Zia.
