Hefazat-e-Islam Amir Allama Shafi urged ‘Imandars’ (Believers in Islam) not to take part in ‘Mangal Shobhajatra’ that will be brought out by students of Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) of Dhaka University on the first day of Boishakh of Bangla New Year 1426.

The Hefazat leader made this call through a statement sent to the mass media on Friday night.

In his statement, Allama Shafi said, “Islamic Shariah doesn’t support the Mangal Shobhajatra so ‘Imandars’ cannot take part in it.”

The statement further added that everything—good or bad—in human life is happened according to Allah’s order.

Marching with idol, sculpture, poster, festoon and wearing masks cannot bring any changes.

These practices are Anti-Shariah and such ideas are superstitious.

He also urged youths to refrain from attending Shobhajatra and musical or cultural programs.
