Dhaka: Nurses at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) called off their strike after the authorities of the hospital formed probe into allegations of assault.
Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, told media that the nurses, who were agitating on the streets, withdrew around 11:30am.
The BSMMU authorities formed a three-member probe body to look into the incident which involves alleged assault on a nurse by hospital staff.
BSMMU Director Abdullah Al Harun said, “There was a conflict between nurse and hospital staff last night. Afterwards, a tense situation spread among other nurses this morning. But it was not strike.”
“We are trying to resolve the problem,” he said.
Last night, there was an altercation between a nurse and a hospital staff. It was resolved by authorities, but the nurses took to demonstration Thursday.
