Major reshuffle in top army positions

Bangladesh Army has made changes to some of its top-level positions, including that of adjutant general, DG of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), and GOC of the 9th Infantry Division.

The Ministry of Defence issued the changes on Monday, government top level sources confirmed.

Maj Gen Md Saiful Abedin, the outgoing director general of DGFI, has been newly appointed as GOC of 9th Infantry Division at Savar Cantonment.

Area Commander of Bogra Majhira Cantonment Maj Gen Saiful Islam has taken charge as new DG of DGFI.

Outgoing GOC the 9th Infantry Division Maj Gen Akbar Hossain has been appointed as commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College at Mirpur.

Outgoing Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College at Mirpur, Maj Gen Enayet Ullah has been made the adjutant general of Army Headquarters.

Maj Gen Humayun Kabir has taken charge as GOC of 55 Infantry Division at Jessore, after serving as adjutant general at Army Headquarters.

Government sources also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the defence minister, approved the changes on February 20.
