Forty students have been injured in a bus and truck collision on the returning way from industrial tour of Masters Students of the Department of Management of Islamic University.

The accident took place on Kushtia-Khulna highway at Bittipara in Kushtia Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

According to departmental sources of the university, a total of 62 students of the Masters program, 2017-18 session, went to the industrial tours to Naogaon on Wednesday night. On the way back from the tour, 17 got down in Kushtia and 3 went home. The bus carrying 42 students, including two teachers Dhananjay Kumar and Murshid Alam Akash, was hit by a moving truck at Bittipara when the truck fell into a ditch. The bus collided hit a tree and crashed into the front. Shortly after the incident, police and fire services and proctorial bodies arrived and rescued everyone, including the injured teacher students and drivers.

According to the sources of the proctorial body, three people were first sent to Kushtia Sadar Hospital for treatment. Others were treated at the university's medical center.

Deputy Medical Officer of the Medical Center of the University Dr. Pervez Hassan said the injured teachers and students of the Management Department were given treatment. 3 seriously injured were shifted to Kushtia.
