He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony on the ‘Asian Conference on Diarrhoeal Disease and Nutrition (ASCODD)’ at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Tuesday. Earlier, the minister inaugurated the three-day conference organized by the ICDDRB.

Zahid Malek said, “Coronavirus patients have not been found in Bangladesh yet. Yet we have taken all kinds of measures regarding coronavirus.”

“Due to malnutrition problems, many health problems of children are not being eliminated. Work is being done to overcome this problem through various public-private initiatives,” the minister said.

Stating that the ICDDRB is making a wonderful contribution to the control of cholera-diarrhea, the Health Minister said there has been progressed in the health sector research pharmaceutical industry in the country. “Under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, steps are being taken to ensure people’s health care.”

Speaking on the occasion — Health Secretary (Services) Md. Asadul Islam, Prof Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, director-general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Executive Director of the ICDDRB Professor John D. Clemons, Professor NK Ganguly, Professor John Halmorgan of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, ICDDRB Deputy Managing Director Syed Manjurul Islam.
