Awami League presidium member and central 14-party alliance spokesman Mohammed Nasim on Wednesday said the strikers will be resisted with iron hands.

“The people involved in the transport strike will not be spared like the vested quarters involved in the casino business,” he said.

The Awami League leader was addressing a discussion as the chief guest at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised the discussion demanding initiatives to observe the Jail Killing Day and Sheik Russell’s birthday as ‘Child Protection Day’.

State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan and Dhaka South City AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad , among others, addressed the discussion with executive president of the Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Falguni Hamid in the chair.

Referring to the transport owners and workers, Nasim said the people will not allow the drivers to kill people on the roads.

Before enacting the Road Transport Act, the government had discussions with people concerned in order to protect the interests of transport workers and owners the AL leader said, adding the act has been passed after reviewing for one-year.
