Kamrul appointed Bangladesh envoy to Russia

After a lapse of more than a decade, the government has for the first time appointed a career diplomat Kamrul Ahasn as the country's next ambassador to Moscow.

After a lapse of more than a decade, the government has for the first time appointed a career diplomat Kamrul Ahasn as the country's next ambassador to Moscow.

Kamrul Ahsan is replacing SM Saiful Hoque who served the country in Moscow since September 2009 on a contractual basis.

A release of the foreign ministry on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Kamrul Ahsan.

Ambassador designate Kamrul Ahsan is a career foreign service officer, belonging to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) in the foreign affairs cadre.

During his diplomatic career, ambassador Ahsan served in various capacities at Bangladesh missions in Washington, Beijing, London, and Dubai. He also served as high commissioner to Canada and Singapore. He was promoted to the rank of secretary in 2016.

Ambassador Kamrul Ahsan obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET).

He also studied at Beijing Language and Culture University and Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Hawaii, USA.
