The country will reach to a comfortable position soon in providing health care services with each upazila getting at least 10 physicians.

“The recruitment  process of some 4750 physicians through the 39th special BCS is now underway and that’s why the country will reach to a comfortable situation in health care service,” said State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain while responding to a supplementary made by BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid in the House on Thursday.

Nearly 4750 candidates have been successfully passed in the BCS and appointment of these physicians has already been approved at the Public Administration Ministry by the Prime Minister, he said.

The junior minister also added that now the appointment of these physicians is waiting for the approval of the President who is now abroad.

More than 4500 physicians will be given postings at different position across the country and then we will get at least 10 physicians at every upazila, he said, adding that “the total recruitment process will complete within at best 15 days.”

In response to a query on scarcity of physicians at the grass-root level, the state minister for Public Administration on behalf of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Zahid Malique, said, “the government has already cancelled all kind of attachment of the physicians and as per the service rule, the newly appointed physicians must have to stay at their duty place in the upazila for at least two years from the beginning of their services.”
