‘Greek Food Festival’ begins at Le Méridien Dhaka

Greece is a country with a very rich history and inspired by it, the hotel is embracing the root of the Greek heritage by welcoming guests with the aroma of fine cuisines and a delightful ambiance, said a press release on Thursday. 

The Greek food culture combines culinary satisfaction with communication. Greeks tend to eat and drink together, around the table, keeping elements of the ancient banquets and celebrations.

Greek cuisine offers unique treats. So, Le Méridien Dhaka has brought this cuisine and culture for the urban people of Dhaka by organizing the ‘Greek Food Festival’ at their restaurant Latest Recipe. The festival has started from October 28 and will continue till November 9.

Guest Chef, Alexandros Makrygiannis, Junior Sous Chef, Hotel Grande Bretagne, has traveled all the way here to delight the food enthusiasts with his authentic Greek delicacies which will be served in buffet style.

The festival is featuring the scrumptious medley of Greek and Mediterranean menu favorites including Greek Salad, Octopus Fritters, Greek Gyros, and Fried Cod Fish with Potato Garlic Puree.

One of the national dishes of Greece, which is Moussaka, will be served at the festival. It is one of the Greek foods that everyone should eat at least once in their lifetime. And all of the savory dishes will be accompanied by various dips and sauces including Tzatziki (cucumber and yogurt) dip. Finally, the guests will be presented with ambrosial dishes such as Loukoumades with Honey and Cinnamon (bite-size fluffy sweet honey puffs) and Yogurt Pie.

 

Regarding the festival, Constantinos S Gavriel, General Manager, Le Méridien Dhaka said, “Greece is a country which is famous for its history, climate and the way of life. On top of it, Traditional Greek food is considered to be some of the best food in the world.”

“So, we want to reciprocate the love the people of Dhaka city has always shown us by letting them experience the Greek culture and food. We are looking forward to welcoming all our guests to enjoy the delicious wide selection of Greek delicacies that our Guest Chef, Alexandros Makrygiannis, has prepared for them.” Said S Gavriel.

The launching ceremony was attended by invited ambassadors and the chief guests of this event were Faruque Hassan, Honorary Consul General of Greece to Bangladesh and the mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam.
